A Five-Year-Old Japanese Boy

By Harold Smith

I have a story today about a little Japanese boy, only 5 years old, Jubi was his name - a funny name, too! Jubi was only 5 years old when his father died. The death of his father made a deep impression on the little fellow's mind. He used to lie awake at night and he was thinking, "I wonder where my daddy is now". He thought about death. He thought about him going somewhere, he didn't know where. You see, Jubi didn't know anything about the True and Living God. All the gods he knew about, all were such strange gods that he'd been taught to worship. He prayed to them and he got no answers and no comfort. One day in his despair, he cried, "Oh god help me! I'm so helpless!", he thought maybe some god would hear him. The next day in school he asked the school teacher, "What gods can help us when someone dies?" The teacher said he didn't know of any gods that could help you when you die - the teacher didn't believe in any god either. Then one day Jubi met a missionary. The missionary spoke to him about the True and Living God. And he said, "God sent His Son into the world to die on the cross for Japanese boys and girls and all boys and girls everywhere", and that the Lord Jesus gave eternal life to as many as would receive Him as their Savior. Jubi was happy to find the True and Living God, so he trusted the Lord Jesus as his Savior. He grew up and for many years he went about telling other people about the Lord Jesus, and how He gives to His people eternal life, and they will never, never perish. I wonder, boys and girls, have you trusted the Lord Jesus as your Savior? You don't have to be any older than Jubi - 5 years old or even younger. All you have to know is that you're a sinner and that the Lord Jesus is the Savior. Will you trust Him as your Savior? You can be saved! I hope you trust Him, and if you are saved or get saved, that you'll be like Jubi - you'll tell other people about this wonderful Savior, so that they can come to know Him too. So you trust the Lord Jesus. He said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved". Put your trust in the Lord. That's how you get saved.
